Proteins of Chromosome 19
  • JAK3-Janus Kinase: This protein is imporatant to signaling in the immune system.  This protein becomes phosphoralated, and then phosphoralates other proteins such as STATS which controls gene expression.
  • DMPK-Dystrophia Myotonica: This protein encodes for protein kinase, which adds phosphate to groups of proteins.  This protein regulates muscle development and function.
  • APOE: The product of this protein is Apolipoprotein E.  Apolipoprotein E is a transport protein that carries fat and cholesterol from blood to the liver (Chromosome Browser).
